“I admit I’ve done some horrible things to you. I wanted you to be my female… I wanted it so bad… I was willing to do anything to keep you. I’m sorry, Vita… I’m so sorry.” He tried to sooth me.
“Trust me; Daneel let me know how much of this was my fault and how stupid I was.” Rollo said and smiled softly in that lopsided way of his; a habit that both infuriated me and seduced me.
I looked at him.
“She beat you?” I asked hopefully. He grimaced but then nodded and grinned again.
“Yeah… sometimes we males need to be reminded that we can’t just force things to our will.” He hesitated.
“And that… maybe my ideas are a little old fashioned.”
I watched him, looking for a hint of a lie but I either didn’t see it or didn’t want to see it. I licked my lips.
“You need to do more than say things I want to hear if you want me to stay with you, Rollo, you know that?
