Chapter fifteen: Plan of attack

For a split second Adrian wanted to pretend he hadn’t heard that noise and lowered his head back down to the lips that were literally shredding his self control. But when the second horrible noise sounded and screams erupted from below he knew he had to go. He cursed under his breath and pushed off the bed in a flash that left Abby reeling in a daze. It took her a second to realize what was happening and she ran after him.  Adrian flew down the stairs and into the living area with Abby not far behind.

Cassy was hiding behind one the couches as were the children and Palanor. Something flew from the kitchen and completely wiped out the 64” TV. Adrian’s mouth dropped open in utter shock. Out of all the crap in the house, that was the one thing he actually liked. From the rubble of the TV climbed… “Apolon?!” Adrian shouted in disbelief.  “Don’t ever go near my wife again!” Mael stormed out of the kitchen and tackled the wobbling Angel. Camael strolled out from the kitchen watching as if nothing was happening.

“I’ll get you a new TV…” He said crossing his arm. There was a strange smile on his lips. “What is going on? Why are they fighting?” Abby asked ducking behind the couch. “That red headed guy said I was a hot mama and well… Mael took it the wrong way…” Cassy said blushing. “You know he will kill him, right?” Adrian said to Camael. Camael shrugged nonchalantly. “Wouldn’t be the first time it happened over something like this.” He said trying to hide a wicked grin that perked up when Mael slammed Apolon into the floor. “We owe you a table and chairs too by the way, that was the first thing he slammed him through.” Camael said.

“I thought Angels were supposed to be peaceful creatures!” Abby shouted over the loud crashing and banging. “We are its just…” Palanor started then stopped and eyed both Adrian and Abby. “…Please tell me you were both mauled by a bear and that bear decided to try and take his pants off.” He said. Adrian immediately grabbed at his wide open fly and zipped it. He turned a slight pink color; it was the most blushing one could hope for from him. Abby simply turned bright red and tugged at her shirt that was pulled up over her stomach.

“Funny thing about those bears…” She said and pretended to be enthralled by the fight. “Oh my God!” Cassy cried and then bit her tongue. She still wasn’t used to the sting that came with saying that name. “Did you, did you finally do it?!” She asked jumping up from behind the couch. “No, I was distracted by your husband actually.” Adrian said bitterly. The crashing subsided finally; it seemed Mael had worn himself out beating the life out of Apolon. Cassy ran over to him and threw her arms around him. “That wasn’t good you know. We are going to have to try that anger management thing again.” She said pulling him away from the rubble around the room.

Camael went and pulled Apolon into the middle of the room and started to snap his bones back into place. “He kissed your hand that is not acceptable.” Mael growled becoming angry all over again. “Let’s go sit on the couch with the kids and settle down.” Cassy said as if she were his mother rather than his wife. Abby smiled at how well the two seemed to get along despite the fact he was a monstrous hulk and she was a fair mouse. Cassy commanded him and he did as she asked even though if he wanted he could do whatever he wished whenever he wished.

“Camille, no not that one!” Apolon howled as his right leg was popped back into place. “When I am finished here I would like to have a word with you, Mael.” Camael said not caring a bit that Apolon was screaming from the twisting and pulling he was doing. “Of course… in the meantime however, Adrian, I need to talk to you in the kitchen.” Mael said. The two brothers left the group and entered the destroyed kitchen. There weren’t many things that wouldn’t need to be replaced. They had even managed to dent the refrigerator.

“I hope you know I expected you to pay for this.” Adrian said surveying the area. “I’ll send someone over to take care of it tomorrow. Did you find anything out about the racer that died?” Mael asked. “No… I searched his locker but found nothing.” Adrian answered hesitantly. “Did you go to the morgue?” Mael inquired leaning back on a part of the counter that hadn’t been crushed. Adrian avoided his brother’s stare. “I was going to but then… I had to feed and I didn’t have time.” He admitted halfly. “I want you and Abby to go there tonight after it’s closed and see if there are any signs of Vargas coming back to life… I have a feeling he might.” Mael said.

“I can’t do that! That was her friend!” Adrian gaped. Mael raised an eyebrow. “Since when did something like that ever stop you? I don’t recall you allowing any weakness in your students before.” Adrian had nothing to say to that because it was true. “You have spent nearly forty-eight hours with this girl straight; you have read the depths of her mind. You can’t know anyone better then that, so, do you like her?” Mael asked and grinned wickedly. Adrian turned away and kicked one of the broken chairs. “I am going to send her home so she can tell her brother what’s been going on, as in the lie I have ready for her and that way she can relieve that worry from her mind.

After that I will take her to the morgue with me. Happy?” Adrian said still refusing to make eye contact. Mael smiled. “Don’t forget yourself and take her on one of the embalming tables.” He cackled. “That’s not funny.” Adrian hissed and pushed past him, heading into the semi- destroyed living room. Abby and Cassy were picking up pieces of the crushed TV while Camael was finishing up with Apolon. “I’ll get the rest of this mess, thank you. Abby, please come over here for a moment.” Adrian said motioning for her.

Abby dumped what she had in her hands in a little trash bin they had gotten from up stairs and followed him. He only took her out of hearing rang of the others; more to make her feel it was private. Because honestly Vampires could hear anything they wanted to hear from anywhere. “I want you to gather your things; I am taking you back to your brother.” He said. “But I thought we…?” She started, looking confused. “So you can explain to him where you have been all this time. I will come and pick you up later tonight because we have something we need to do.” He explained.

Abby blushed instantly and looked away. “Oh… I didn’t think you would want to… not that I don’t want to but…” Adrian’s eyes widened. “No, no! I meant we have a job to do.” He said hastily. His cheeks colored slightly knowing that Cassy and Mael were both probably listening to every word. “Right, yes sorry… I… It’s just that... well…never mind.” Abby stuttered and started for the stairs. Adrian wanted to say something but he had no idea what. Women were far, far harder to deal with than Vampires.

Mael was watching them from the living room and when Adrian noticed and looked over; he made an obscene motion with his hand and smiled. Adrian promptly flipped him off and walked to his front door. “Thank you for coming over but I need you all to leave.” He said and opened the door. Cassy looked over to Mael and then called to the children. Both little ones flew from somewhere in the downstairs area and joined their mother. “Say goodbye to your Uncle, we are going home.” Cassy said giving Mael a dirty look. “Goodbye Uncle Adrian!” Both yelled and reached up for hugs.

Adrian pretended that he was burdened by it but did give both a good hug. “Be good.” He said and watched them run out to the car where Ailo was waiting. “Bring your girlfriend over for dinner some time.” Mael said passing by. Adrian sent a few unflattering thoughts to his brother so not to foul any one’s ears with them. “He is really only trying o help you, Adrian. We love you, you know?” Cassy said and gave him a slight hug as she left.
“I am fine without help, thanks.” Adrian said stiffly. “Ok, now you two. I’ll see you later, talk to my Brother on the way out.” Adrian said to Camael and Apolon.

Camael had Apolon’s arm around his shoulder and was carrying him. “We have to go buy furniture anyway…” Camael said then turned to Palanor. “Come with us.” He commanded. Palanor looked confused. “But I was told to stay here…I don’t…” He started. “I am being told that you should come with us, you cannot defy the Dominion’s orders.” Camael said and passed Adrian. “Sorry about your house Adrian… I didn’t know your Brother would get so very angry…” Apolon winced. “You are forgiven. Goodbye.” Adrian said rather hurriedly.

Once they were all out of the house, Adrian walked over and flopped dead on one of the couches. He cursed himself for feel slightly bored a few months ago. He closed his eyes for a split second and took a deep breath; there had been WAY too many people in his house lately for his liking. “…tired?” His eyes popped open to see an upside down Abby looking at him. “Yes.” He answered. “Do you want me to call a cab?” She asked with a slight smile on her lips. “No, I’ll take you. I want to meet your Brother.” Adrian said. “You looked strange from this angle, like one of those singing chins that are on the Ecards.” Abby giggled resting on her elbow above him.

“I could say the same about you right now.” He said. Her hair was hanging down around the side of her head, tickling his neck and chest and her lips were so full and soft looking... How could anyone be so beautiful he wondered and then suddenly realized that he was stroking his fingers through her hair, and soon he would have had her lips pulled down for a kiss. He pulled his hand away and sat up, nearly bumping heads with her. “Are you ready?” He asked trying to shake some sense into his head.  “Ye…yeah.” She stuttered and started toward the door.

He had a very bad feeling he wasn’t going to make it through the night without either converting her or…
