Chapter Fifty-One

Adrian was shocked and pleased by Abby’s... aggressive performance. Here he had been prepared to be the ‘Master’ in the game but Abby took the role and literally ran with it. The things in her mind…. Good God, he should have paid more attention when she was young to what she was thinking… or not taught her how to hide her thoughts so well. Her imagination was extremely creative and vivid and what she had done was only the tip of the iceberg.

Now, as she sunk her little fangs into his skin with the determination to mark and bind them together, he could only feel proud of her. How assertive and grown up she was, how easily she met this challenge and mastered it…he was impressed.  He let his head fall to the side and he bit her in return, marking her as she should have been before. Not sloppily done in a moment of ignorant passion but done meaningfully and right.

She convulsed gently in his arms, her body shuddering through her climax. Adrian held his grip, his teeth stuck fast as he spilled his seed within her. The pleasure was like nothing he had felt before, it seemed as though it would never stop. But too soon she cried out weakly against his neck and fell limply into the mess of blankets and pillows on the bed. She was smiling, her face warm and flush from their joining.

His own nerves were still tingling but he relented and rested next to her, wrapping her up in his arms and settling his head between her breast and chin. “Oh wow…” Abby breathed as they rested, though he wasn’t out of breath and technically neither was she. She would have to get used to the idea of not tiring quite like humans did but the brain still assumed it was human at this early stage and she would have phantom symptoms of tiredness and lack of strength.

It was how accidences happened. A young, freshly turned vampire might not realize their strength and hurt humans. It was part of the reason it was so important for a master to remain by the fledgling’s side. “You aren’t tired already, are you?” Adrian asked, kissing her collarbone. “No, not really… Adrian, can I ask you something?” Adrian lifted his head slightly and looked at her. “You can ask me anything…” He said. “You are going after Hanz and Raya after this, aren’t you?” Abby asked, watching him.

He nodded slowly. “I am, yes. It’s time to end this now that I know where they are.” He said. “I know I can’t go even though I am an immortal now. I mean, I know you don’t want me to go and frankly I’d be in the way… right?” She asked combing her fingers through his hair.  “I’d just feel better if you stayed away… you are never in the way.” He said. Truthfully, despite her new strength she wasn’t close to a match for Hanz and Raya even in their weakened states.

“I’m always in the way for you, Adrian… you have just grown to like it.” She said softly and smiled. “Just promise that you will come back and that you’ll make sure Hanz is gone for good.” Abby Said. Adrian nodded gently and then rested down into the comfort of her body. They were silent for a long while which was fine because he wasn’t sure how to explain to her how grateful he was to have her back, he could only show her.

It was almost sunrise when Adrian slipped from the bed and secured the curtains at the window for Abby. He no longer had to fear it but she would and he regretted that but she would come to terms with it and Mael had his little charms. She would be fine, he thought watching her sleep for a moment.  He slid his palm over the mark on his neck. It was healed but he could feel it burn beneath his fingers and he smiled. The process was completed and neither one of them would suffer from the hysteria as before.

He leaned down and pulled the covers over her upper arms and shoulder and pressed a kiss to her cheek. She would have a lot to deal with because of this sacrifice. Her family, her job and her life would be turned upside down. He hadn’t wanted that but she made the choice in the end… still he would always feel guilty for putting her into another position like this. He showered and dressed then headed downstairs where Mai-kael was waiting with his little celestial lackeys.

“You look well today, Mister Church.” Mai-kael said with a smirk. Adrian ignored him. “I’m ready to finish this… to hold up my end of our agreement.” Adrian said. Apolon seemed pleased by this and genuinely excited. Camael simply looked on without so much as a nod. “Good, Paris has agreed to open a portal to the Sylain for you… He is making a great sacrifice for the greater good. I’d just like you to be aware of that.” Mai-kael pointed out rather oddly. Adrian raised a brow and nodded.

“Yes, of course… why wouldn’t he try to serve the greater good…?” Adrian asked. Mae-kael stared at him for a moment, a smiled spreading across his lips. “Remember that in the future…” He said cryptically and then vanished. Adrian felt a cold chill run down his spine at Mai-kael’s words but tried to shake it off, he had work to do. Adrian went to the kitchen and found Mael, Cassy and Paris there waiting for him.  “Adrian…” Cassy uttered when he entered the room and then threw her arms around him.

“Be careful…” She said and pulled away. “I will… you really don’t have to worry.” Adrian said and smiled. “We’ll watch over your little brood while you are gone.” Mael said and smiled slightly. “Thank you…” Adrian said and meant it for more things than he would ever admit. “Are you ready?” Adrian asked, turning his attention to Paris. “Yes, I am.” He said. He had healed well and seemed fit to fight but fighting one’s own kind… Adrian knew how hard that was.

“Paris, we can’t thank you enough. I mean it. What you are doing…” Adrian began but Paris stopped him. “I fought for Ulveress because she was my Queen but she is no longer the Queen I knew. I fight for what is right.” Paris said.  Adrian rested a hand on Paris’ shoulder and it was the first time Adrian ever had to reach up to do such a thing. “Will the park work?” Adrian asked.  Paris nodded. “Yes, we have used the parks in the city for a long time to travel from our dimension. I just hope that they did not find another mother to birth their vessels.” Paris said grimly.

“As do I…” Adrian agreed. “And if they do have knew vessels and not the rotting corpses as before…? What then, can you kill them?” Mael asked. Camael and Apolon joined them suddenly from thin air to answer that question. “Destroying Hanzazal would be a mistake to make.” Camael said. “He is too powerful now to allow back into the well, he must be taken back to the void and locked away. Raya, however, should be slain so that part of her might rest.” Camael explained.

Adrian looked toward Cassy who smiled weakly at him. “It’s for the best that she dies, Adrian. She could never be happy like this… she never merged and she needs to rest now.” Cassy said. Mael was strangely silent but Adrian knew that this entire event had affected him deeply. He had loved Raya, truly loved her. Something Adrian could never do.  “I’m sorry, Mael…” Adrian said quietly but Mael smiled at him and pulled Cassy into his side. “The woman I love is right here.” He said matter-of-factly and Cassy beamed in a way Adrian hadn’t seen before.

“I think we are ready then.” Adrian said.  “Oh, Adrian, you forgot your sword!” Cassy said and started to move to retrieve it but Adrian stopped her. “I don’t need it this time…” He said and smiled. “Come on, let’s go end this.” Camael, Apolon and Paris all nodded in agreement. There had always been a flicker of fear before he went to a fight, not because he feared death but because he feared what it did to him. For many years he had felt as if his very soul was slipping away but now he knew it was how he would save his soul.
Oh mah... what is Mai-Kael foreshadowing about there... ;D EHEee... *wild giggling* I guess we will have t see in duh futureeeeee!
