Abby had never seen anything like this but recently that wasn't so strange a thing. The roof of the car flew through the air as if weightless and the bus and minivan lifted into the air just as they were about to hit the car. The creature on the roof was humanoid in form but covered in a writhing mass of tentacles that slithered over its entire body and anything it touched. Huge wings, that were starting to look grimly familiar, spread out and cast a long and ominous shadow over the wreckage in the intersection.

Julian and his cohort began scrabbling out of the car as Abby just sat there staring in complete disbelief. "Adrian...?" She muttered but the creature jumped from the car to the ground and skewered the two men trying to escape with its silvery tentacles. Blood sprayed over the street and the on lookers now gathering, began to scream and run. The one named Karl started shooting and when this failed, he started to beat the pulsating appendage with his gun.

Abby crawled from the wreckage and stumbled closer to get a better look. Julian was still, his left hand resting on the ridged spike through his right shoulder. "Hold back, Church! If ve turn, ve vill kill all these people!" Julian growled. So it was Adrian? Abby mused. That was what he meant by not being like the others. Karl opened his mouth, the inside filled with long sharp teeth now and his eyes glowed a strange color. He snarled inhumanly and Abby pulled her gun just in case.

"I got your back, Adrian." She called, leveling her gun on Karl. She perceived a laugh, humor, somewhere inside her mind. Before she could really put her finger on it, Karl's head was hitting the ground, rolling between Julian's feet. Julian swore under his breath and rambled something in what sounded like German. Blood drizzled from his wound making a sizable pudding below his feet and Abby could see his hand tightening frantically on the spike. “Alright, alight, don’t kill me! I vill tell you vhere they are… you need me, Mister Church!” Julian cried.

Abby lowered her gun and stepped closer, wondering if the little worm had wet himself yet. “What is he talking about?” Abby asked, coming closer. Adrian was… he wasn’t at all Adrian. Even his aura was different. His flesh had become this platinum armor now covering his body, his eyes were portals of light more so than eyes and spiraling through his silvery hair were twisting horns. It was frightening and yet she rather liked it. “I know where they are. They’re in the Sylain.” Adrian said though without a mouth, Abby was at a lost to where the voice came from.

“But you need a Volven to open a portal there!” Julian reminded him desperately. “God damn, I need a DnD rule book to follow this shit, guys…” Abby muttered sheathing her gun. Adrian reached out and closed an armored hand over Julian’s head and let it rest there, he then gently removed it and the spike from his shoulder.

“Tell them I am coming, tell your people to leave if they do not wish to die.” Adrian said. Abby couldn’t believe he just let the guy go but he had done something to him when he touched him, or so it seemed, as Julian appeared to heed his words more thoughtfully than before.  “I vill…” Julian said, gripping his shoulder. “Go.” Adrian commanded and Julian began to hobble away from the scene. Oh yes, the scene, just as Abby became painfully aware of the public mess they just made, sirens began to blare.

“Oh shit! Adrian, we can’t let them see you here like this!” Abby cried, grabbing his arm. He looked toward the direction of the sirens. They were getting louder and Abby was getting tenser as each second passed. “Adrian!” She insisted again, looking around them at the crowd of people. This wasn’t good. Suddenly a man appeared with red hair and began screaming “Cut!” And “Great take guys!” Abby vaguely recognized him.

“What the fuck…” Abby muttered, stunned. “Abby, language…” Adrian said. “I’m over twenty, I can say fuck…” She snapped.  “Who the hell are you?” She asked the insane red haired man that was running around handing the onlookers money. “Apolon, remember? Oh, I guess you don’t yet…” He said and shooed the crowd away. “Thank you for participating!” He called to them. “I thought it would be cool to implant the idea they were extras in a movie rather than just wipe their memories…” Apolon said and grinned.

Abby raised her brows and then looked to Adrian with a ‘what the hell just happened’ look. “Apolon, you stupid fool!” A blond man yelled, raging through the crowd of people. “You can’t just hand out that money, we have an allowance! What the hell is wrong with you?!” The blond man continued as if Adrian and Abby weren’t even there. “I’m sorry, Camael… just… I thought it would be fun and different.” Apolon said, pouting. “You are a complete idiot!” The blond man scowled then turned to Adrian and Abby. “I’m sorry for that… Abby, nice to see you again, Adrian, little messy, Mai-kael will not be pleased.” He said, still scowling.

“He was trying to take Abby to Ulveress… to Hanz and Raya. I saw what he planned for her… there are no pregnant women they plan to kidnap, they planned to use Abby.” Adrian said, his form starting to slowly revert. “Say what now? They were going to use me to birth them into a physical form? But I’m not pregnant!” Abby gasped, taken aback at the idea. “You don’t have to be pregnant; Julian has been working to create Volven quicker and faster… like the monsters you two ran into over twenty years ago.” Camael explained.

“I thought it was possessed and that was why it attacked like that.” Adrian said. Camael shook his head. “It was possessed… but it was not a normal Volven either. Because Ulveress exists in a separate plain, one she created, we can’t see her. We can’t know what she is doing there… she has been working closely with the Princi for a long time. Julian created and provided the bodies and the Princi filled them with soldiers. She very well could have been the one that originally set Hanz free onto the earth to begin with. Either way, we have to stop them.” Camael said grimly.

“You think?” Abby said, crossing her arms. Camael raised a brow at her sarcasm but she figured he’d heard worse. “Abby, please. Camael, I’m going to find Haedren and have him open a way into the Sylain for me. I’ll take care of Ulveress and Hanz, myself.” Adrian stated firmly. “I’m going too, Adrian.” Abby interrupted. There was no way she was going to let them get away with what they had done, not to mention they planned to use her as a vessel. “In no way are you to go near the Sylain, Abby.  Reckless heroism is what killed you in the first place.” Adrian argued.

Camael stood by silently, watching them. “I’ll do as I please! I’m not standing by while you fight them alone.” Abby said, staring them both down. She was half their size and human but no one was going to tell her what to do. “Miss Knight, no offence but Hanz would rip you to shreds before you even knew what hit you. You have no proper training in this field. Interfering in this would be foolish.” Camael said in a bored tone.

“I have to agree, Abby… besides, I can’t lose you again. I won’t.”  Adrian said quietly. Abby was pissed, she wanted her revenge but the way Adrian looked at her, almost pleadingly, drained her of all her reasoning. “Fine… but I want to do something.” Abby resigned herself to the idea that she would never get him to agree but if she felt he was in trouble. She was going. End of story.
