Bethany blinked at the man’s statement. “Excuse me? What the hell are you talking about?” She asked, pulling at her restraints. He regarded her for a long silent moment then removed his mask. He appeared to have once been handsome but his face was now scared quite badly. He waited as if she would recognize him but she had no idea who the hell he thought he was to her. “Still you have no memory of me?” He asked, looking irritated.

“I’m not sure who you think I am buddy but I am not your wife.” Bethany said. He grimaced deeply, making the lines of his scars more pronounced. “It must be that filthy blood in you… Don’t worry, my darling, I’ll soon free you of it.” He said and reached to touch her face. Bethany twisted and turned her head away but his hands still managed to catch her. He forced her to look at him. “Don’t touch me, you freak!” She growled. “This isn’t you talking, it’s the filthy blood inside you.” He whispered.

“Get off of me!!!” Bethany screamed. Her voice broke as she squealed in his grasp. “Hush… hush, don’t scream like that.” He said and pressed his lips to hers. Bethany felt tears rolling down her cheeks as she clamped her mouth shut. The more he tried to coax a kiss from her, the more enraged and panicked she became until she opened her mouth and bit down on his lip as hard as she could. He reared back and grabbed his mouth which now bled. Bethany spit the blood left in her mouth at him.

“Fucking pig!” She growled with venom she couldn’t believe was her own. The man pulled his hand away, his lip almost torn in half. He glared at her. “Don’t think I won’t punish you, Da-Celia…” He hissed and struck her hard across the face. Bethany’s head swung to the side from the blow. She was too weak to do much but remain still. She could taste blood, her own blood, as he had loosed a tooth in her mouth. He stood suddenly, grabbing his mask, and started pacing the small room.

“This is the thanks I get for looking for you all this time? No matter, soon you will remember and I will clean all the places that vampire has dirtied you.” He said. “Listen, you nut job, I am not this Da-Celia! My name is Beth and I am not your wife!” Bethany said with as much force as she could muster. “I do not speak of this life but the one before, love. You have our blood in your veins, passed down and deluded but it’s there. In your eyes… those lovely violet eyes.” He said longingly. Bethany felt her stomach twist.

The images of that morning vision came back to her, the hallways, the Ljusalf. Good God, was it true? It didn’t matter, Loken was the one now… “If the process fails… then I’ll just have to either accept you as you are or kill you and find you again.” He muttered. “I’ve had to do it before…” he said nonchalantly. Bethany felt a wave of terror wash over her as he looked at her. He was mental. Utterly mental! “I’ll be back in awhile to begin the process… in the meantime Valic will be in to feed you.” He said.

And in that time period she had to find a way out of this place. She had to or this masked loon was going to forcefully reincarnate her! She watched him walk out and then looked around the room for anything that might help her escapes. Unfortunately, she was too weak to even lift her arms. She wasn’t sure if it was the lack of blood or what they had injected her with. It wasn’t long before she heard the door creaking open and saw a male vampire walk in. It was the same male from the van, though she couldn’t see him well before, she could tell from the strange silvery blue hair that it was the same guy.

“Aw, you are awake… You must be quite strong willed, most can’t stay awake after being injected.” He said in a disturbingly cheerful manner. This had to be Valic, the same Valic that Mael and Loken were talking about. “I’ve got something for you I think you will like.” He said and held up a bag of blood. Bethany wanted to rebel but she was so hungry, she had never known a hunger like this before. Her stomach burned and her veins tightened at the thought of drinking.

“My name is Valic. I will be taking care of you, seeing to your needs and disposing of your body if Maatheus doesn’t find you fit enough.” He said hooking the blood bag to an IV stand. “I like to get to know the people I might have to kill, so please feel free to tell me a little bit about yourself.” He said and inserted the IV into her arm. “I’m not telling you shit, you piece of trash!” Bethany tried to shout but it came out as a whisper. “Tsk, tsk, that attitude won’t get you far,” Valic said and then gently wound his fingers into her hair and pulled.

He leaned forward, close enough that she felt his breath on her face. “Especially around here, darling.” He hissed. “Fuck. Off.” She grated out. To her shock she felt a sudden pain shoot through her ear and it wasn’t until he had pulled away that she realized he had bit her. He licked his lips then learned back down to suckle on the lobe he had pieced. Bethany growled as best she could but she refused to scream, she would never let him know how disturbing it felt because she had the sickening notion he got off on that shit.

“There’s a good girl… now you be good or I’ll have to punish you again.” He said as he straitened. It took everything in her not to throw a bevy of insults at him but she’d rather remain silent than have him touch her again. Her skin felt like it was crawling with bugs just at the idea of his lips on her. “Won’t Maatheus be pissed if he finds out you hurt me…?” Bethany wanted to know. Valic’s face was still frighteningly placid, like a porcelain mask of indifference.

“Darling, once he is done with you there won’t be much of this body left. He doesn’t care what I do as long as your soul is intact.” He explained passively. Bethany felt a sickening lump building in her stomach. “What is he going to do to me?” She asked, feeling a bit stronger now from the blood pumping into her veins. “First he will try and awaken your soul, if that succeeds then he will transfer your body to your… old body.” Valic said.

“Old body…?” Bethany echoed. “Yes, he has this insane idea that if he transfers your soul to your mummified husk of a corpse that you will then live again.” He explained. “You don’t think it will work…?” Bethany asked, feeling that lump growing larger. “It hasn’t yet. In fact, it’s actually the cruelest thing I have ever seen…” He almost smiled as he spoke which sent a chill down Bethany’s spine. “Imagine being aware but trapped in that disgusting cage of a body. Limbs breaking and crumbling as you try to move. It’s horrible… and normally the soul leaves soon after. In other words, you die. Maatheus is quite insane…” Valic said and chuckled.

“So… it’s never going to work, it never has worked and you know this?” Bethany muttered. “He funds and aids my work so I can’t really complain about his personal ventures. He can keep trying forever for all I care, as long as he allows me to do my work.” Valic said simply.  “And killing your own kind, turning humans into zombies, that’s your work?” Bethany wanted to know. He nodded. “Revenge is my work. Tell me, has anyone else contracted the disease? Is the King weeping at the bedside of his beloved wife?” Valic asked.

Bethany felt a sudden surge of anger and pulled hard against the chains in an attempt to claw his eyes out. “You fucking pig, you piece of dog shit!” Bethany growled. He smirked down at her, pleased at her reaction. “So much anger… but why? The King is nothing to you. I’d worry more about myself right now if I were you and what Maatheus plans to do to you… or what I can do to you while he isn’t watching.” Valic hissed and grinned.

“You have supple, young flesh, so soft and it heals so fast. I could scrawl poems in it with a knife and by morning there wouldn’t be a trace.” He mewed dragging his finger over her abdomen. Bethany clenched her teeth and closed her eyes. “Is that how you get off, huh? Torturing helpless women?” Bethany snarled. “Actually, yes.” He said seriously. “You see, when I was but a lad my mother would use me for her sexual exhibitions. This angered my father and he would beat me for becoming aroused. It had an interesting effect on my psyche…” He explained, removing the IV from Bethany’s arm.

“Eventually nothing aroused me at all but I found an odd pleasure in watching others suffer pain. I think that developed when I sold my mother to slave traders and watched them rape her or it could have been when I tortured my father to death… Either way, I have a different method of ‘getting off’ as you put it. I find my pleasures in the suffering of others and knowing how his Majesty suffers, oh, that is the sweetest of all.” He purred. Bethany tried to remain calm but she was chained to a bed with a goddamn psychopath hovering over her, calm was getting pretty hard to manage.

“So, I couldn’t seduce you into letting me go, is that it?” Bethany asked, trying to keep the tremor from her voice. “I’m afraid not, darling. I’ll find my pleasure with you yet, though.” He said. “It had to be hard… that life. It’s no wonder you are fucking insane.” She said, praying that perhaps if she talked with him that maybe it would at least buy her some time. Everyone liked to talk, right? Even psychotic maniacs needed to share. All she could hold on to was the idea that Loken was searching for her… God, she hoped he was.
I admit... this got a little fucked up... lol Sorry DX Hopefully valic won't get any fans. LOL though, I am sure he will, he is a very interesting character. Misunderstood, not really, tragic, yes, definitely.
